Home to the cultural center of power, science, Palenque was one of the many city states of Mayan Mexico and it is located in Chiapas. K’ìnich Pakal, ruler of Palenque from 603 to 683, during his long rule Pakal was responsible for the construction or extension of some of Palenque's most notable surviving inscriptions and monumental architecture.
