Holiday Pop Up This Sunday! Fall Arts and an Amazing Moment at the de Young

Here we are again, Autumn in Northern California. Cool nights warm days. As this was the driest Summer on record, I have just harvested all my tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, squash and beans. It’s time to put my big ole pots to better use for the Winter vegetables.

This is also the time of year that the holidays begin to be felt. I’m already streaking toward a goal of jewelry and kinetic art designs for the holidays season. It’s gonna be fun. New designs in each group are already in final stages. I will update you on my Fairs, with a Pop Up Holiday Fair this Sunday! 1035 & 1039 Daniel Drive in Petaluma!

HOLIDAY POP UP, AT HOME! WITH MY PAL CHARLENE MARSHALL AND HER WONDERFUL KNIT CREATIONS: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16, 11-3. COME BY AND SEE US! 1035 & 1039 DANIEL DRIVE, PETALUMA

Deep thinking about the future, I cannot emphasis enough that your efforts toward this frail democracy are needed, every woman’s vote will count this election. It is so important to read, learn and listen to us older women. The young understand this and I hope you all understand that everything we hold as safe, secure and healthy is on the ropes. Vote and support candidates in places where they struggle to remain free to chose safe healthcare.

I’m spending my days working toward peace of mind. It helps to stay calm and thoughtful. I am also very grateful to my family, friends and customers for making this a year of wonder. It was amazing to have a few projects with the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in January, several kinetic sculpture commissions and a rocking time at the exhibitions with my kinetic art this year.

Thank you all for your purchases over the years, I can’t thank you enough for keeping me in this jewelry universe. It has me learning and leaning hard into subjects I love and need to look deeper into, some things that I didn’t know existed.

Dream of a day when women are honored, respected, believed, held in higher esteem. Dream of a day when women are truly equal and partnered with to make this life better for all. Dream of day when Women Run the World. My Autumnal Dream.

In August, I met a young person at The de Young Museum in the galleries showing the artwork of one of my loves, Faith Ringgold. We chatted about this amazing moment, two African American women surrounded by the work of another African American woman. You have to realize two things: a women’s art filling a gallery and the artwork is protest art about how she couldn’t be shown or culturally represented in other artworks at the Met or MOMA in New York City. Something special happened and I want to share this link with you. Let me know if you’re interested in seeing the video produced for the de Young Museum’s Gala 2022 as I am featured as one of the guest speakers.

With Love, wishing for a better world where we are safe, considerate and strong. Denise
