Black History Month Is Here! So many events, so many places!

What a big month ahead. I’m a member of Petaluma Blacks for Community Development and we are hosting many events in Sonoma County this year. The national theme is Black Resistance. What would this look like in art? What would this feel like everyday? What is the state of Contemporary Art and how is Black Resistance Art influencing art today, yesterday and tomorrow?

I am moderating a conversation with four Bay Area/Sacramento artists: Michael Granville, TheArthur Wright, and Unity Lewis. Unity and I will also speak about his colossal grandmother, Dr. Samella Lewis, one of the great pioneers of Black Art who elevated the works of artists for lifetime. This is a dream project for me. The gentlemen are all friends and have affected how I see art, my own practice and will be a great crew to see on Sunday, February 19th at Museum of Sonoma County in Santa Rosa. 1pm-3pm. We are so grateful to Museum of Sonoma County for the space and their generous support for the month’s event.

Can’t make it to the event? We are recording the event and will post on the Petaluma Blacks for Community Development Facebook account, at https://pbcd4us.com other viewing opportunities as they develop. This will also be included my YouTube channel.

Many other events are also happening! Hope to see you at one of the many as The Dorian Mode concert has already sold out. Want to become a member? Go to https://pbcd4us.com
