August, Whoa.......

I am so happy to be enjoying the fruits of summer days. The weather has been better than last year and it is the green canvas around me daily makes this life worth living: my garden/studio/sky space/office/dinner place/heart.

Covid finally caught up with me and the hubs. His musical output and my artwork went on hiatus for most of August. We are free of this now, and it wasn’t fun.

New jewelry is slowly rising, with a BIG wave coming through this week.

I have a wonderful commission in a kinetic sculpture called FOLHA BRILHANTE - ‘bright leaf’ in Portuguese for Elaine in Glen Ellen.

After 4 weeks away with covid and a slow energy return, I’m finally returning to the best farmers market: https://thesantarosafarmersmarket.com at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts up on Mark West Springs Road, returning on Saturday, August 25! Yay!

What I missed: The Patch with all their amazing tomato varieties, delish veggies especially green beans and the sweetest corn. I also missed Barbara from Duncan’s Mushrooms where shiitakes are like a food dream, Strauss Milk, Pegi, my pals Wendy, John and Angie and the great farmers, prepared food folks and the crafts. I missed my organic Sonoma County family.

What did I learn about slowing down: to enjoy breezes, to watch the last of the sun in the trees at sunset, to rest when I am tired, to be more thoughtful about my life, my husband, my world. Enjoying the minute I’m in. Grateful it’s 2023 and I am dreaming of the winter garden of ‘23-’24, the new run of jewelry designs, my kinetic sculptures for clients and my own projects.

Be well, enjoy the fruits and vegetables of the season. Love to ya, Denise.

Some of my girls in bloom: yellow Bright Lights cosmos with deep dark maroon scabiosa Black Knight.
