Session 4: May 19, “Metal Tag Jewelry”: Earrings, 10-2pm
Saving the best for last in the jewelry classes, Metal Tag Jewelry uses all the fundamentals of jewelry making. Students create earrings in brass or copper, using all the fun tools from a jewelry bench. Students learn to file, sand and stamp designs in metals. Oh, the earrings you’ll create! All tools and materials are provided by instructor. A light vegetarian lunch will also be provided.
Artist Denise Ward has been designing jewelry for over 25 years. Her work is sold in contemporary crafts galleries, museum gift shops, and stores on the West Coast, as well as The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Inspired by the ancient jewelry designs, her jewelry reflects antiquity in a modern mood with bright colors and intriguing imagery. Each piece is handcrafted by Ward from earrings to cufflinks. Denise Ward also teaches jewelry design, currently instructing future jewelers at Spring Hill Montessori School and Cinnabar Elementary School, Art Escape in Sonoma and Petaluma Arts Center.
